Friday 16 May 2008 Full Circle is Canberra's most exciting Celtic-Australian folk band. Formed in 1996, Full Circle won the Band section of the Canberra Irish club "Great Irish Music Competition" in 2000. From haunting airs on the hardanger fiddle to full-on Celtic mayhem, Full Circle will have your feet tapping right from the first reel, with their combination of fiddle, guitar and bass – these guys don't just play music, they entertain. "The sensation of the Festival" - St Albans Folk Festival 2006 and 2007 Supported by Humbug - 8.00pm Humbug is a vocal harmony group whose members are from diverse musical backgrounds. A few favourite 60s folk standards are also included in performances to get the audience tapping their feet and singing along! The group's beautiful blend of voices, singing original three or four part harmonies, evoke the spirit of another time and place. A rich sound is achieved with eight voices, guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, flute, bass guitar and percussion. Humbug provides something different - and an opportunity to listen to songs too rarely heard. |

Friday 23 May 2008 Neil Murray has provided a deep insight into Australian life for more than two decades with his songs. His music reflects his affinity for the land and respect for indigenous culture. He was a member of the pioneering indigenous rock group the Warumpi Band and won an APRA award and major acclaim for “My Island Home”. His latest CD “Overnighter” reflects the life of a musician on the road and the other people out there at that lonely roadhouse at 3am. Multi instrumentalist John Bedggood will be performing with Neil. Neil Murray is simply one of the greatest singer/songwriters Australia has ever produced....his music is hard hitting and true to life... it's real..., just like the man himself." Supported by Johnny Huckle - 8.00pm Indigenous performer Johnny Huckle is a singing dynamo who can bring a tear to your eye, make you want to dance, sing along, inspire hope and leave you in deep thought. His magic is drawn from his own life experience as a child who suffered illness, pain, violence and racial discrimination, and as a man healing himself from the past. He inspires and promotes healing to others through his wonderful music. |
